Chris Watkins here blogging as the Cole Mill campus intern…
I have been at Cole Mill for about a year now and Ryan has asked me to be the “Jack of all trades, master of none”. You can usually find me running around the campus on Sunday am assisting the campus pastor, filling the baptistry, cleaning the church, leading the First Impressions Team, leading the Starting Point luncheon, teaching the Starting Point part 2/3 class, connecting our campus to outreach oppurtunities in our community and the list goes on…and I LOVE IT!
Here is a little bit about me for those of you I haven’t met yet:
I graduated from NC State in 2006 with a degree in Religious Studies and now am working towards my Masters at Southeastern in Wake Forest. I have been married for two years to my beautiful wife Emily. If everything goes according to plan we will be moving to North Africa as church planters one year from this week! Oh, one more thing…I am a huge Tennessee Volunteer fan, GO VOLS!
I love the people at Cole Mill. In the year that I have been here I have seen that we have some of the greatest servants in the church at our campus. This past year we decided to adopt Eno Valley Elementary as a campus. You all blew me away with your response. For those of you who didn‚t get to see the finished product check out the blog entry from July 16th to see some pictures. The staff at Eno were amazed with how you helped clean and paint their school, not to mention all of the school supplies you all brought in. In the next couple of months we have several volunteer opportunities for those who are looking to serve:
First Impressions: Right now we need more volunteers for our First Impressions team. This would mean showing up 15-30 minutes before service (or staying 15 after) to help serve people as they come in.
Starting Point: We are also in need of some table hosts for Stating Point. The 2nd Sunday of every month we have a luncheon immediately after the 2nd service for those wanting more information about the church. Then on the 3rd Sunday of every month we have a class for those seeking membership.
If you are interested in volunteering at either of these positions please email me at cwatkins@summitrdu.com. I love this campus and thank God for giving me the opportunity to serve the city of Durham alongside of you.
